ABEBOOKS LAUNCHES SPECIALIST SECTIONS FOR SCIENCE FICTION & FANTASY
(Victoria, BC – 6 February 2007) AbeBooks.co.uk - the world’s largest online marketplace for new, used, rare and out-of-print books - is inviting fans of science fiction and fantasy to find the latest releases and collectible classics in two new sections specially designed to showcase the genres.
The ‘Science Fiction Room’ and ‘Fantasy Book Room’ join already established sections for new books, rare books and college textbooks. Easily accessed from the AbeBooks.co.uk homepage, the two sections offer a diverse and eclectic insight into both genres.
“We have an exceptionally strong selection of science fiction and fantasy but we’ve never attempted to seriously highlight these books before now,” said Boris Wertz, Chief Operating Officer at AbeBooks.com. “The two rooms will touch on the classic and the contemporary. We hope they will appeal to serious fans but also to book-buyers with a passing interest in these subjects.”
Aside from showcasing new and rare books in both genres, the two rooms will feature:
- Interviews with award-winning authors Elizabeth Bear and George R.R. Martin;
- An interview with Barry R. Levin – one of America’s leading booksellers of science fiction and fantasy;
- AbeBooks’ most expensive science fiction and fantasy sales from 2006 including an $8,000 copy of 1984;
- A science fiction and fantasy discussion forum,
- Feature articles from the experts at Fine Books & Collections magazine
- And a little known and up-beat book by George Orwell called Nineteen Eighty-five – the latest in the series of fake not-books from AbeBooks that can be emailed to friends in an e-card format.
Founded in 1996, AbeBooks.com offers for sale more than 100 million books from 13,500 booksellers, including many science fiction and fantasy specialists.
