John Watt finds Victor Frankenstein's notebook and lends it to Vernon Bright, his science-mad friend. Later Watt takes the school hamster home for the holidays but an accident with the cat leaves Mr Nibbles lifeless in the snow. Bright comes to collect Mr Nibbles and Watt realises too late that he plans to use Frankenstein's knowledge to bring the hamster back to life. Things go sadly wrong and the hamster grows uncontrollably and the boys are faced with a ten-metre-high hamster terrorising thecountryside - and using the ferris wheel at the local fair as an excercise wheel! Bright of course solves the problem in a drastic fashion and Watt is left with nightmares.
