White Collar Crime: The Essentials is a comprehensive, yet compact text that addresses the most important topics in white collar crime, while allowing for more accessibility through cost. The book provides a theoretical framework and context for students and explores such timely topics as crimes by workers sales oriented systems, crimes in the health care system, crimes by criminal justice professionals and politicians, crimes in the educational system, crimes in the economic and technological systems, corporate crime, environmental crime, and others. This is an easily-supplemented resource for any course that covers white collar crime.

“This is a good textbook for undergraduate students as it explains clearly and simply the concepts and types of WCC, provides good examples, and does not overwhelm the student with unnecessary information in most areas.”
(Cindy A. Boyles)“...it will remain recommended reading on my course due to its sheer encyclopedic breadth and depth, which showcases, better than any comparable textbook of which I am aware, the full extent of white collar crime, occupational deviance, and corporate and state crime, which can be found in advanced capitalist societies.
(Dr. Bob Jeffery)“This is a wonderful tool for teaching the full panoply of topics appropriate to the study of white collar crime. It offers excellent examples, fine illustrations, separates out important ideas using highlights, tables and bullets to their best advantage, and otherwise offers a rich mine of empirical information about the commission of white collar crime, its public toll, theoretical explanation for its presence and persistence, societal measures for its control and the major related complex issues and problems posed in bringing white collar criminals to justice.”
(Dr. Gary Feinberg)"Strengths include 1. Quality of writing: The book is extremely well written. Payne has a gift for presenting challenging material in an organized and accessible manner. 2. Variety/Depth of topics: The book provides an unexpectedly wide look at the variety of White Collar Crimes. It also includes a look at the judicial system and corrections, areas which are typically not directly addressed. 3. Visuals/tables: The photos/tables used throughout the text are of excellent quality and do a wonder job of supporting/illustrating issues from the narrative."
(Christopher Salvatore)“Wide coverage of a lot of different topics within the study of white-collar crime. [White Collar Crime is] easy to read and follow; does not overwhelm students with too much information all at once. This makes it easy to elaborate upon the material in the classroom without regurgitating the textbook to them. Great use of examples throughout that help identify and explain what we mean when we use the term “white-collar crime.”
(Andrea Schoepfer)“The variety of topics covered are very timely and relevant to every student. The In-Focus features will definitely peak students’ interests in the topics being covered.”
