German description: Robert Havemann zahlt zweifelsohne zu den bedeutendsten DDR-Dissidenten. Als Kommunist war er vom Volksgerichtshof 1943 zum Tode verurteilt worden, als Kommunist beteiligte er sich fuhrend am Aufbau der DDR. Angetrieben wurde Havemann dabei vom Ideal der Uberwindung sozialer und politischer Knechtschaft, das ihn schliesslich zum Gegner seiner ehemaligen Genossen werden liess. Seine schonungslose Kritik am SED-Regime ging nicht zuletzt auf seine im Widerstand gegen das NS-Regime gewachsene Haltung zuruck. Der Band vereint Studien zu entscheidenden Wendepunkten der Biografie Havemanns und Untersuchungen zu seiner Bedeutung in historischen Umbruchen. Die Aufsatze werden erganzt durch biografische Schlusseldokumente aus dem Nachlass Havemanns im Archiv der Robert-Havemann-Gesellschaft Berlin und die Stasiberichte uber Havemanns aufsehenerregende Vorlesungen an Spitzenfunktionare der SED 1964.
