Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Hardcover, with dust jacket. bound in tan cloth over boards, with black lettering to the spine. Toned paper dust jacket with light green lettering to the front cover and spine. Dated 1961 on the copyright and title page. 338 pages. Good condition. Binding is tight and strong, with some light bumping to the spine. Pages are toned and endpapers are foxed. No marks or writing to be found. Dust jacket is toned, with wear to the spine and the corners. No tears or large chips. Overall light shelf rubbing. Back of DJ is heavily toned. Overall good condition. Thomas Lovejoy has written his name and date at the head of the front free endpaper. This book is from the collection of Thomas Lovejoy. Dr. Lovejoy was an influential ecologist, field biologist, and activist; former head of the Amazon Biodiversity Center, World Wildlife Fund, and advisor to the United Nations and Smithsonian Institution. He is credited with introducing the term 'biological diversity' to the mainstream environmental movement. In addition, he was a passionate collector of books on the natural world.
