"It attempts to diagnose Nepal's ills through the eyes of a sympathetic yet critical insider. It is worth considering at some length because of its insights and because Bista, as an insider, can say things which no outsider could say" says Alam Macfarlane of Cambridge Anthropology. The dust cover has signs of wear and the former owner, Himalayan Anthropologist Bruce Morrison (whose name is inside the front cover) highlighted pages. The author was Royal Nepalese Consul General in Lhasa from 1972 to 1975, thus in a time where almost no other reports are available. Unsurprisingly however, one learns little about actual conditions of the time, the author and his family were apparently confined within very narrow limits, each excursion was carefully prepared. Nonetheless interesting. Even though it is mentioned in the imprint that the book had a printrun of 5.100 copies, it is hard to find. Sprache: Englisch Gewicht in Gramm: 550.
