Head and foot of spine are creased. Stamping is very bright. Rear gutter is cracked, but muslin is intact. Binding is fragile but secure. Black stamping of "hae" on fly leaf and copyright page. Black-and-white illustrative frontispiece with tissue-guard of the author titled "Samson Raphael Hirsh: Late Rabbi of the Israelitische Religionsgesellschaft (Israelitsh Society for Religion) of Frankfort-on-the-Main, Germany". Title and copyright pages dated 1899. 222 pages. Interiors are clean and unmarked, though there are a few pages with previous owner's blind stamp. Hirsch was a German Orthodox rabbi and the intellectual founder of the Torah im Derech Eretz school of contemporary Orthodox Judaism. A good copy overall.
