According to Lowry, "a drawing is every bit as important, and sometimes a damned sight more effective [than a painting]. Besides, it is more difficult to do; for one thing, you haven't got colour to get you out of a mess" (introduction). Quarto. With 282 full-page drawings. Original brown morocco, lettering to spine gilt, endpapers gold, all edges gilt, light brown bookmarker. Minor rubbing to edges, a near fine copy.

This copy is from the collection of Carol Ann Lowry, to whom the painter bequeathed his entire estate. Two colour zinc lithograph on WT & CO. Kent watermarked heavy wove paper.
