As for our Oslo collection of Greek papyri we believed to have finished our work with our magical literature (P. Oslo, fasc. 1, 1925; 11, 1931, No. 15). Only a small fragment, bought during a stay in Egypt in 1920, had been laid aside as undecipherable. Some weeks ago Dr. Amundsen called my attention to this scrap of paper, and we at once recognised a fragment of the somewhat better preserved magical cryptogram so brilliantly deciphered by A. S. Hunt. There can hardly be anv doubt that the Michigan papyrus (purchased in Egypt by the late Professor F. W. Kelsey) and our Oslo fragment are parts of the same magical treatise, written by the same cryptographer. The nature of the papyrus (v. the plate, added to Hunt's publication), the signs, made with "considerable practice" (Hunt), the intervals between the lines add conclusive strength to this hypothesis. The date is pre-Hadrianic, as appears from the strengthening strip cut from a document and placed at the back of the Mich. papyrus. The place of origin of these amulets is Syria; the Michigan specimen discussed by Bonner derives from Aleppo and has been republished by P. R. Sur un siège c'est-à-dire une chaise sans dossier ni bras, donc pas un trône couvert d'un coussin, est placée, debout, une grande couronne de laurier, ornée sur sa face antérieure d'une pierre précieuse oblongue. Derrière la couronne est posé obliquement un sceptre, dont l'extrémité supérieure se termine par un buste représentant un personnage à barbe. Un bouton rond, semble-t-il (il n'est guère assez grand pour qu'il puisse s'agir d'un «globe» rudimentaire), relie le buste au sceptre.
