Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. This offering is an older hard cover copy of The Boy with the U. S. Fisheries written by Francis Rolt-Wheeler and illustrated "with fifty-one illustrations, principally from the Bureau of the United States Government. The book was published by Lothrop, Lee & Shepard Co. in November of 1912 and appears to be a First Edition though it's not specifically stated as such. It is not an ex-library copy, has no dust jacket, and is only in good condition . . . but still quite readable for the environmentalist. The book is 5 3/4" by 8" and has 397 pages with a Table of Contents and the fore-mentioned black-and-white illustrations. "To reveal the incalculable riches of this vast domain of rivers, lakes, and seas; to show the devotion of those whose lives are spent amid its elemental perils and to point out a way where courage, skill, and youth may find a road to serve America and all the world beside, is the aim and purpose of The Author." Thank you!.

First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. This VG- quality and likely first print book was copyrighted in 1912 and is published by Lothrop, Lee & Shepard; it is 8" tall with 397 numbered pages of text followed by 5 unnumbered pages of ads. This book has ribbed medium blue cloth binding with the title on front & spine plus the author on spine in gold lettering and the publisher on spine & author on front in black lettering; the front panel has a 3-1/4" x 4-1/4" photo applique as well as a white, blue and black background of waves on a coast; the spine has a 4-1/4" tall image of an official-looking public building. The book is square, with a small ding near the bottom of the rear board and with all four corners lightly bumped; the head and heel of the spine are also bumped with wear and color loss. The bottom edges have a slight amount of wear. The spine is lightly soiled and worn and though much of the gilt is gone, the lettering is still readable; most of the color is gone from the image, however. The front panel illustration is clean and has some wear but no serious damage. The interior is free of writing, stray marks and page damage of any type; however, pages 73-147 have a small water satin in the lower corner--the stain is rather faint and completely confined to the margins. Both hinges are quite strong and not damaged in any way. The text paper is modestly toned and is quite flexible. The book has no remainder mark and is not a former library book. It is profusely illustrated with photos on coated paper. The list at the front of the book lists through this title.
