An odd inscription with association, with a bookplate on the front pastedown that reads, .inscribed for "Wesley Court"/Lewis Turco via Roland Young." and signed by Betjeman on the bookplate. Turco's ownership signature and date of acquisition in ink on first free endpaper. Leiws Turco (1934-2024), a poet, often wrote under the pseudonym "Wesli Court," an anagram of his name. First Printing. xxvi, 279 pp. 12mo. Slight scuffing to dust jacket, now in mylar cover. Interior quite clean, previouis owner's circular library stamp blind embossed on title page.

Dust-jacket a little rubbed to extremities, marginally sunned to spine, ring mark to upper. Very good. The owner was Jonathan Stedall a documentary filmmaker who had a long professional relationship with Betjeman and made a number of his best loved programmes. Signed by Author(s).

Slim 8vo. xxvi, 279pp. Full red leather lettered in gold at the spine, and printed on Oxford India paper. Cockerell marbled endpapers. Top edge gilt. The leather fractionally chafed in one or two places and a hint of spotting to the first blank fly leaf. A virtually fine copy. No dust wrapper called for, but housed in the original marbled still card slipcase, which is fractionally rubbed at one or two extremities. Signed by Author(s).

Full dark green calf (a contemporary deluxe binding by Sangorski & Sutcliffe); spine decorated in gilt in compartments with red morocco lettering pieces; sides bordered in gilt; top edge gilt; marbled endpapers; leather rubbed at the extremities; inner surfaces of the endpapers and adjacent leaves a little foxed; trifling surface blemish to the front flyleaf where a small bookplate (or similar) has been removed; overall, an excellent copy. Loosely inserted is a personalised Christmas card inscribed and signed by the author: 'Hooray Hooray for | Middlesex, London's | County, London's Elysium, | Keats's inspiration & to | Hell with the L.C.C. & up | with Mill Hill | Happy Christmas | [from] John Betjeman'. The card is a bifolium of laid paper, outer surfaces blank, the centrefold featuring an illustration of the Nativity with a quotation from Luke 2:16 on the left, and the manuscript insertions over Betjeman's printed address of The Mead, Wantage, Berkshire on the right (card folded horizontally for posting; a little creased, foxed and tanned, but overall in very good condition).
