Excellent story, originally published in 1939, stockbroker Malcolm Warren is asked for advice by an old school friend whose Uncle has gone missing in Cornwall. then his clothes are found on a beach. but Warren gets interested and finds some inconsistancies in his friends story and in the actions of the old Uncle! Book.

The jacket has had a protective cover stuck over it and this is also firmly stuck to the boards around the edges. Library stamps to the front and rear flaps of the jacket along with the title page, contents page and the final page of the text. Some label residue and a price in ink to the front free endpaper along with another number at the top. Page edges a little browned with some spotting but the pages are generally otherwise unmarked. The jacket has a two inch stain to the bottom corner of the rear panel and a 'Mystery' label stuck to the spine. Jacket design by Beverly Lebarrow. First printing of this edition.

Because Malcolm Warren, quite by accident, has been involved in two murders, his friends consider him an expert in crime. So he is not surprised when a brilliant but failed old schoolmate enlists his aid to find a missing uncle. But he is quite astonished when he discovers that the respectable uncle and nephew have been romancing the same woman. A scarce book in this condition. Book.

Original Cloth. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. The boards have rubbing and light fraying to the top and bottom of the spine and along the edge next to the rear panel. There is also rubbing along the edges of the front and rear panels with some loss of colouring along the bottom edges. The binding is a little slack at the front of the book with a gap showing at the title page. Page edges browned with scattered light spotting. Quite heavy brown spotting at the front and rear of the book with scattered spots and stains throughout the book - most of the pages are affected to some degree. The pages are otherwise unmarked however. No jacket. First printing.
