Probably owned by Charles Hibbert Henry Williamson's father in law. The Hibbert's were a wealthy middle class family in Devon. Williamson' met his daughter Ida Loetitia at various hunting meets and fell in love From a large collection of Henry Williamson's and his family's books. Includes a specially commissioned small bookplate affixed inside the book confirming this. Book is good++ and quite bright. Re-cased retaining the spine and endpapers. Contents quite good. Rear blind-stamped with decorative border and design. The book is in very good antiquarian condition. Minor sunning to the board edges with lightly worn corners. Two small tears to the top of the sunned spine. The gilt lettering and design is bright and fresh. Advertisement and bookplate on the front paste-down. The textblock is remarkably clean and bright. The author was a veterinary surgeon in London and Professor of Animal Medicine. On the front pastedown is the armorial bookplate of William Sandilands of Barny Hill. Spine and cover edges a little faded. Slight bruising to the edges. Very good indeed.
