Engraved illustrated title-page. Decorative initials, head- and tailpieces. This is the third edition of an important work by William Sewel, the first Quaker historian of Quakerism. Heavy abrasions on binding with boards mostly stripped of their leather with corners rubbed and worn. Front board detached but present. Blind spine partly detached and chipped. Illustrated title-page and foreword pages damp-stained and detached. Light damp-staining and foxing throughout. Tear on leaf 3/4 of second volume and last 2 leafs missing (553/554; 555/556). Text in Dutch and English. Overall, binding in poor, interior in fair to good condition.
