Published by Alexander Hogg, 16 Paternoster Row, London, England; Barnard's New and Complete History of England published in 1785. Written on an improved plan, being the most impartial work of its kind, the whole brought down to its present time. Beginning with Caesar and the time of the Romans. Rebound at some point in full calfskin, lettered in gold, with six raised bands to spine. Bound in is a partial subscriber's list ( From recipients Johnson to Young ) and a partial index running from ' A ' to ' M '. ) While the title page is not present, the original frontispiece is bound in - with a full page of manuscript prayer to verso. Noteworthy for its engravings of English royalty - for which the volume was oft-cannibalized, there are additional engravings on a significant display of non-Royal themes. Chief amongst these are military engravings ( including the illustration of the execution of Major Andre for espionage. ) As well as the Burning of the Martyrs During the Bloody Reign of Queen Mary. Barnard's work was additionally commendable for its determination to remain relevant, frequently revised to reflect more recent developments. The final reference herein notes actions of the second session of Parliament in 1785. A very good copy, lacking title page, with some marginal chipping to edges of some pages and mild foxing throughout. Bound in brown calf. Shipping commensurate with size ( 16 inches in height by 10 inches in width) and weight ( 8.7 pounds ) of volume.
