Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 2nd Edition. LANCASTER, Osbert [82] pp. John Murray 1953 Second (enlarged) Edition 9 1/4" x 6 7/8".
Small 4to. First edition. Original yellow cloth printed in red. Illustrated by the author. Cloth a little discoloured where the jacket is chipped. Ink inscription on the half title. Unclipped d/w has several large chips. Contents clean. Very good in poor d/w. The companion volume to Pillar to Post nails Le Style Rothschild, Greenery Yallery, First Russian Ballet Period and Aldwych Farcical. The inscription reads, 'Norah with much love from Cara Xmas 1939'. The recipient was the socialite and garden designer Norah Lindsay (1873-1948). Osbert married Karen Harris in 1933 and their daughter, Cara, was born in 1934. Karen's mother was also called Cara and it is much more likely that she was the donor of her son-in-law's book than her six-year-old granddaughter.
