Softcover. Condition: Acceptable. PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION. Acceptable grading is due to extensive damage to the slipcase and moderate damage to the books themselves. Otherwise the text of each volume is clean and unmarked and their respective bindings are sound with no loose or missing pages. The slipcase has a number of scuffs, chips and tears, most notably on the top edge, where there's a tear in a V shape about an inch long and three-quarters of an inch wide; it also shows staining, rubbing and creasing at the corners and edges, and a partially removed sticker on the rear edge. There is staining and creasing on the spines of each volume, as well as a half-inch split at the front hinge of Fellowship. Fellowship's spine is also noticeably darker than the other two volumes. This set issued with a number code to the label of the case and without a price to the dust jackets, indicating that this was originally issued by the Book Club. Box with a few bumps to the corners, some wear to the bottom, bright label, some tanning to the inside, still strong and secure. Dust jackets with sun faded spines, less so to The Return of The King, a little wear to the top edge of jackets, a tiny nick to the spine of The Two Towers, and a tiny chip to The Fellowship top edge, jackets otherwise tidy. Books with black covers and bright gilt plus metallic orange, red, and purple decorations. Strong colour to the top edges, with the respective orange, red, and purple. Square, securely bound, with clean, bright pages, no inscriptions. Complete with fold out map at the back of each volume. The Return of The King has some tiny speckling to the fore edge which appears to be over spray from when the top edge was coloured. Very good books, good jackets and box.

It is the 1965 edition of this incredible series featuring The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King. The set is in the original slip case, which has minimal wear (some minor spots of wear on the edges and on the side label. The books and their jackets look almost brand new, including the folded maps. The Return of The King dust Jacket is the only spot in the set with wear, featuring about a 1" tare on the bottom edge of the spine and the edge of the front cover. No longer noticeable in a protective mylar jacket. The Two Towers has a small ink spot on the exterior edge of the pages on the bottom (unsure if this is original to the book). This set is about as close as new off the shelf as you can find. Photos available.
