Cloth. Condition: Very Good. FIRST EDITION, INSCRIBED BY AUTHOR. 8vo. Original blue cloth, spine lettered in silver. Top extremities bruised. Fondly inscribed by Adcock in blue biro to title page: "To Jacky coinciding with your 60th birthday with many thanks for 20 years of support, & love, Fleur 12.viii.2000". Else, clean and bright. In the original illustrated dust jacket: spine gently sunned, top edges and extremities creased. Very good/ very good A lovely copy of this fondly inscribed collection by the multi-award winning poet, who had been awarded an OBE for her contribution to New Zealand literature four years earlier. It seems likely that Adcock's inscribee is Jacqueline Simms (1940-2021): the pair had co-edited The Oxford Book of Creatures in 1995. Following Simms' death in 2021, the poet published 'Jacky' in memory of her friend and collaborator: "Let's go back in time, Jacky,/ now that the present is not much fun,/ to the menagerie you proposed,/ entitled The Oxford Book of Creatures.".
