The bottom corners of the first 16 pages of text have 1cm square missing and it looks as though someone has tried to feed the book to a Hamster - small chew marks to edges of damage & light marks to remaining page corners. Flyleaf is missing. Fairly heavy wear to boards' corners, small marks & nicks to edges. Light finger marks to title-page & a couple of page margins. Attractive B&W drawings & illustrations to title-page. No frontispiece and we don't know if there should be one. Binding is sound. Undated - looks about 1960.

Spine is red tape. Weak gutters. Overall, pages are clean, signs of light, loving use. Pages brilliantly illustrated by the author, with bright color and B/W drawings, to enhance the delightful stories. States 'first printing, May 1944' on copyright page. Oversized.
