Slight age toning to the textblock. Attractive bookplate of notable botanist and author Mary Briggs to the FEP. Small contemporary newspaper cutting neatly pasted to the centre of the FFEP entitled Style Wins, relating to the awarding of the Duff Cooper literary prize to the book. The price-clipped DJ is lightly bumped along the the top edge only. The front remains mostly pink but with the top and one edge faded to cream, as is the spine, though the title is still visible in pink. A lovely copy of the scarce true first edition of this cult classic of nature writing.
