About this Item
Benjamin Franklin Norris, Jr (1870-1902), influenced by Zola's naturalism, is famous for several "muckraking" novels that are associated with progressive causes for reform. He was also, unfortunately, influenced by the Social Darwinism and Scientific Racism of his day, and tainted by the ever-popular antisemitism. First published in 1899; this is a Near Fine copy of a Later Printing (2nd) from a year later. Tan cloth binding, ruled in black, with titling and a sunrise in orange on the front cover. Clean text; 339 pages. Faint previous-owner signature on the FFEP. No dustjacket; in an archival plastic protector. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Seller Inventory # 005609
