Octavo, original black cloth over boards, color illustrations pasted to front and rear covers, paper label pasted to spine. Novel focusing on the development of urban life in New York City from the Gilded Age to the Jazz Age as told through a series of overlapping individual stories. Good, moderate shelf wear, slightly soiled, time-toned pages, hinges cracked and boards holding but looking toward detaching, wear to paper label on spine, pencil and ink marks on endpapers.
